Aldene and Elsie gave me a new dress. Boyd gave me some new aprons, Agnes a handkerchief and Florence a pair of silk stockings and I got a nice card from Frank and Flossie.

22. (Tue) I cut my hand a little place the day we butchered and it is all swelled up this morning.
23. (Wed) I went to the Dr. about my hand to day.
24. (Thu) My hand is awful sore. Boyd helped to dress the chickens and get things ready for dinner tomorrow. Mrs. Roberts stopped in to see me this eve. We are going to the church to nite.
25. (Fri) Christmas - Aldene, Allen and Agnes, Jim, Florence and Joe and the children were here for dinner. Jess and Elsie and the children all came in the after noon. We all had a nice Christmas and got lots of nice things.
26. (Sat) We went over to Jess' for dinner. Boyd helped kill a beef. We got a quarter of it.
27. (Sun) We went to see the Dr. again. He said I had blood poison in my hand. We went to church. Mrs. Gass and Jess and Elsie came this eve. Mrs. Gass doctored my hand.
28. (Mon) Elsie stayed all nite. My hand hurt me all nite. Jess came after Elsie and I went to the Dr. with them. I stayed at Aldene's. Jess and Elsie sat up at Mr. Bumgarrier's.
29. (Tue) My hand isn't ready to open yet. Iva is here at Aldene's.
30. (Wed) Mr. Bumgarrier died last nite. The Dr. opened my hand this after noon. He gave me either {"ether"}.
31. (Thu) Mr. Bumgarrier's funeral was this after noon. I have been in bed all day. Jess and Elsie were here at Aldene's for dinner.
48. Viola was the daughter of Myrtle's sister Ivalean (Cryder) and Newton Herrin. Viola was only 22 years old when she died. Her father, Newton, had died in 1924.
