for Pre-Disaster Mitigation Grant Program (PDM)
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Maine
Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) will provide course materials and training
for developing a competitive PDM electronic application.
Since these are nationally competitive grants, and it takes considerable time to
pull all the documentation together, it is highly recommended that potential
applicants participate in this basic “How To” course.
Workshop topics will include:
* On line registration
* Creating a sub-grant application
* Attaching documents to the application
* “Checking In and Out” of eGrants
* Revising / editing / submitting
* DOCUMENTATION, DOCUMENTATION, DOCUMENTATION
* Problem description and solutions
* Benefit Cost Analysis (BCA)
* Cost Sharing (75% federal / 25% local)
* Work Schedule and Accountability
* Deadlines and Competitive Process

Benefit Cost Analysis (BCA) Workshops
for Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP) Applications
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will provide
course materials and training for developing a benefit/cost analysis (BCA) in
order to compete successfully on hazard mitigation grant applications. Since
many of the grant requirements have changed since 2002, it is highly recommended
that potential applicants participate in this basic “How To” course.
Workshop topics will include:
* Documenting past damages (before mitigation)
* Determining frequency of damages
* Determining loss of function for project type
* Determining economic losses
* Project useful life
* Project Costs
* Project Benefits (after mitigation)
* Benefit Cost Ratio
* Project Maintenance
* Proper data sources and documentation
NOTE: The workshops
are offered in two different locations
FORMAT: Informal classroom style;
presentation with Q&A.
Since this is not in a computer lab, please feel free to bring your laptops
with a fully charged pack. You’ll have the opportunity to “test drive” the CD
that is provided with the class
