A Facility Guide to the Emergency Planning and Community Right to Know Act in Maine pdf

This document is designed to help a facility owner or operator comply with the reporting requirements of the Emergency Planning and Community Right-To-Know Act (EPCRA), Title III of the Superfund Amendments and Reauthorization Act of 1986, 42 U.S.C. s. 11001, et seq. (SARA) and the Maine Hazardous Materials Emergency Response and Community Right-to-Know Act of 1988, MRSA Title 37B Chapter 13.  Any facility, public or private, that has present hazardous materials at or above established threshold amounts may potentially be subject to this law.  Because EPCRA is complex and has multiple reporting requirements, the State Emergency Response Commission (SERC), a policy board appointed by the Governor, developed this manual to assist facilities in meeting the state and federal requirements.

Hazardous & Oil Spill System Online Report Service

The Bureau of Remediation & Waste Management maintains the Hazardous & Oil Spill System in Maine. This database may be searched by: spill number, reported date range, location, tank type, and/or keywords. This service allows you to retrieve a report once the data relative to it has been approved by the DEP for public viewing. There is no cost for searching or viewing reports.

The Maine Information and Analysis Center (MIAC)
(AKA - Fusion Center)

See someone taking pictures of your facility? Don't know who they are or if they're authorized to be doing so? Don't just shrug your shoulders. Get a license, description of the individual and vehicle and get the information into the system. Check it out with your facility manager and if there's no reason for the individual(s) to be taking pictures, the Maine Information and Analysis Center (MIAC) wants to hear from you at 1-877-786-3636 or visit on the web at www.maine.gov/miac . The nature of what you are seeing will determine what route of notification you'll take. If at all in doubt, and concerned, call 9-1-1 first.
