Application Period Now Closed for
2007 Homeland Security Grant Program
October 1, 2007
Grant availability has been announced for FY 2007 Homeland Security Grants in
Maine. Eligible applicants are city and county governments, and associated
public facilities.
The grant guidance, application forms, and other supporting
documents
are available online.
Note that all applications (both County
and Local) must
be submitted to County EMA offices
no later than close of business on Friday, November 16, 2007.
Applications received after the deadline will not be considered for funding.
For 2007, reduced levels of Homeland
Security grant funding necessitated a narrowing of grant criteria, to focus on:
- All-hazards emergency planning
- Shelter and recovery operations
- Training and exercise
- Public education and awareness
- NIMS compliancy measures
- School district emergency planning
A total of $2.25 million is available for allocation
under the competitive process.
The County EMA office will prioritize and submit grants to MEMA by November
30, 2007.
Please pay special attention to NIMS requirements and the application
categories. To complete for these dollars towns must be NIMS compliant, if you
are not you must file a Corrective Action Plan as part of your towns NIMS survey
outlining how the jurisdiction will become compliant by January 28, 2008… grant
funds may be awarded, however the jurisdiction will not be allowed to draw down
any funding until the CAP steps are completed and NIMS compliance is achieved.
