registering on the Yahoo website and going to the list page at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/MeHL and joining from there.

You will receive a message from Yahoo at the address you subscribed with asking you to confirm your subscription. This is to prevent SPAMMERS from using Yahoo to send you Unsolicited Commercial Email.

Yes, Virginia, There Is a Digest

Yahoo offers three options for reading list mail. You can receive it at your personal email address message by message, you can receive it at your personal email address as a digest, or you can register with the Yahoo website and read your mail on the web. These options are controlled from the website. I am in the process of checking for email commands to change back and forth from the digest. If you don't want to register, and want to switch to the digest, you can email me at MeHL-owner@yahoogroups.com, and I will make the change for you.

Sending Messages to the List

You send messages to the list by email. The address you use is MeHL@yahoogroups.com. This is called the posting address. Yahoo has software that takes your message and sends it out to everyone who is on the subscriber list. I have set the options so that when you hit your reply button, replies will automatically be sent to the whole list. To send a reply to just the original poster, use the "reply all" button instead of just the "reply" button, AND delete the list address from the "To:" window.

Bounces, Vacations, etc

If your email service is interrupted for any reason, your email may start bouncing. This is handled automatically at Yahoo, and your subscription will be set to not send mail. This can be switched back on by visiting the website. If you are not registered with Yahoo, then send email to me at MeHL-owner@yahoogroups.com, and I will handle it. How will you know? If you send a test message to the list and don't receive it within 24 hours, there may be a problem.

There is one situation where bounces are avoidable. Sometimes, people go on vacation and their mailboxes fill up. We can set you temporarily to nomail (again, via the website) and then take you off again when you get back.

Privacy Concerns

Messages are archived on the net. Archives are accessible to members only. If you post something and have second thoughts about it being available to the entire membership of this list, email me and I will remove it.

The membership list is accessible to me only. Your email address will not be made available to anyone else.
