Crispy Critter's Christmas Tree
by Sarah Robinson

Once upon a very white December, a young girl named Madelon sought to find the perfect Christmas tree for her family. She enlisted the aid of a wise old Shetland pony, Crispy Critter. Loveable Crispy carried Madelon on her quest through deep powdery snows in the company of her mother, father, baby brother and pet Border Collie. Crispy proved to be more than just convenient transportation … ending up the undisputed hero of home and barnyard for having led the family to a perfect tree.  A page from the book:

The perfect tree is what we want.
Not too tall and not too short.
We’ve measured what will fit inside.
It can’t be tipsy or overly wide.
Momma’s just the perfect height,
And Daddy’s arms will fit around it,

  but not too tight.

Yes, we seek the perfect tree,
For Christmas with the family.

They followed an old logging road into the woods.  The wind stood still and puffy white clouds hung low overhead, seeming to almost brush the treetops.  Sunlight filtered through the branches, in shimmering waves of light.

The book contains 21 full-color photographs by Arn and Leda Sturtevant taken in and around Home-Nest Farm, and was written by their daughter, Sarah Robinson.
