Pleasant Pond Conservancy

PPC was created for those that live on, in the watershed, or are just friends of Pleasant Pond. The pond is located in the town of Turner in the state of Maine. Although its the second largest pond in Turner (there are 12!), its not as well known as many of the others. Its tucked away slightly off the beaten path, between Route 4, Androscoggin River, Route 117, and Route 219. The pond is not visible from any road except, of course, Pleasant Pond Road.

Water quality topic of discussion

There are plenty of people in and around Turner keeping an eye on water quality. With 12 bodies of water within the town limits, Turner is a recreation paradise for central Maine. It is in the best interest of landowners and vacationers alike to try to maintain the high quality of life in this area. Unfortunately, several ponds have been deemed at high risk. Pleasant Pond is one of them.

With a little bit of attention from each one of us, this area will provide pristine recreation for generations to come. Below you will see links to info that came from years of testing the water in Pleasant Pond. Also, a link to the yearly PPC Newsletter. Although there are several things that stress a lake, nothing is more stressful than land development in the watershed. We don't expect this to stop nor do we wish for that to happen. However, there are things we can do to minimize the stress. Please check with biologist and others who know what each one of us can do to preserve the pond.

If you are not a member of the PPC (Pleasant Pond Conservancy) and would like to be, please send an email to the link below. Also, you are invited to attend any of our regular schedule meetings. Keep checking back here to see time and place.
