211 Maine is a nonprofit organization formed in partnership with United Ways of Maine and Ingraham to develop a health and human services information and referral service system to serve the entire State of Maine, every day and in times of crisis.
We all know to dial 9-1-1 for medical and health emergencies. We also know to dial 4-1-1 for directory assistance. And now, finding the answers to health and human services information and resources is as quick and easy as dialing 2-1-1 or logging onto 211maine.org.

EMED Professional Resource directory for emergency medical personnel and first responders

Emergency Management Institute Through its courses and programs, EMI serves as the national focal point for the development and delivery of emergency management training to enhance the capabilities of federal, state, local, and tribal government officials, volunteer organizations, and the public and private sectors to minimize the impact of disasters on the American public.

Emergency Response Guide 2008 The Emergency Response Guidebook (ERG2004) was developed jointly by the US Department of Transportation, Transport Canada, and the Secretariat of Communications and Transportation of Mexico (SCT) for use by firefighters, police, and other emergency services personnel who may be the first to arrive at the scene of a transportation incident involving a hazardous material. It is primarily a guide to aid first responders in (1) quickly identifying the specific or generic classification of the material(s) involved in the incident, and (2) protecting themselves and the general public during this initial response phase of the incident. The ERG is updated every three to four years to accommodate new products and technology.

Maine Fire Marshal The Fire Marshal's Office is dedicated to protecting lives and property from the devastation of fire, explosions, and other life safety hazards. Maine Information and Analysis Center The Maine Information and Analysis Center (MIAC), also known as the Fusion Center, is a cooperative effort between the Maine State Police and the Maine Emergency Management Agency, under the auspices of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. The MIAC exists to evaluate information and intelligence about potential terrorist activity in Maine. The MIAC ensures that critical information is shared promptly with all appropriate agencies.
MIAC is also a resource to help Maine citizens do their part in helping to keep Maine safe. It is a place that people may contact when they observe or learn of suspicious persons, incidents or activity that may arouse their concerns. Information shared with the MIAC will be evaluated as previously described and referrals will be made to the proper parties, if a referral is indicated.

National School Safety Center The National School Safety Center serves as an advocate for safe, secure and peaceful schools worldwide and as a catalyst for the prevention of school crime and violence.

National Response Center The National Response Center (NRC) is the sole federal point of contact for reporting oil and chemical spills.

IS-1 Emergency Manager: An Orientation to the Position This independent study course provides an introduction to Comprehensive Emergency Management (CEM) and the Integrated emergency Management System (IEMS). Included is an in-depth look at the four phases of comprehensive emergency management; mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery. The text is accompanied by illustrations, diagrams, and figures. In most units, there are worksheets, exercises, and tasks to complete.

NIMS ICS-200 ICS 200 is designed to enable personnel to operate efficiently during an incident or event within the Incident Command System (ICS). ICS-200 provides training on and resources for personnel who are likely to assume a supervisory position within the ICS.

NIMS IS-800 This course introduces you to the NRF, including the concept of operations upon which the plan is built, roles and responsibilities of the key players, and the organizational structures used to manage these resources. The NRF provides a framework to ensure that we can all work together when our Nation is threatened.
The course is designed for DHS and other Federal department/agency staff responsible for implementing the NRF, as well as State, local and private sector emergency management professionals.


NIOSH Pocket Guide to Chemical Hazards The NIOSH Pocket Guide to Chemical Hazards (NPG) is intended as a source of general industrial hygiene information on several hundred chemicals/classes for workers, employers, and occupational health professionals. The NPG does not contain an analysis of all pertinent data, rather it presents key information and data in abbreviated or tabular form for chemicals or substance groupings (e.g. cyanides, fluorides, manganese compounds) that are found in the work environment. The information found in the NPG should help users recognize and control occupational chemical hazards.

Oxford County ARES The Amateur Radio Emergency Service (ARES) consists of licensed amateurs who have voluntarily registered their qualifications and equipment for communications duty in the public service when disaster strikes.

RACES Founded in 1952, the Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service (RACES) is a public service provided by a reserve (volunteer) communications group within government agencies in times of extraordinary need.

Ready.gov Ready.gov is a common sense framework designed to launch a process of learning about citizen preparedness. One of the primary mandates of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security is to educate the public, on a continuing basis, about how to be prepared in case of a national emergency—including a possible terrorist attack.

SeniorsPlus  SeniorsPlus Area Agency on Aging serves seniors in Androscoggin County, Franklin County, and Oxford County Maine. Under the authorization of the Older Americans Act, our mission is to offer information and assistance, nutrition services, social activities and advocacy to help older people remain independent. Our professional staff assist seniors over the telephone, at our offices or community centers, and with in-home visits for the homebound.

State of Maine Animal Response Team Based at the Department of Agriculture, the State of Maine Animal Response Team (SMART) is a public/private partnership that developed from the need to improve animal emergency response capacity in Maine. Volunteer Maine The members of the VolunteerMaine Partnership are state, non-profit, public and private agencies that have come together with the sole purpose of promoting volunteerism in Maine and meeting these goals. WISER provides a wide range of information on hazardous substances, including substance identification support, physical characteristics, human health information, and containment and suppression advice.
