In Case of Emergency (ICE)

If an emergency happens and you are not at home and unable to speak, by storing a few emergency phone numbers in your cell phone, EMS (ambulance personnel), Firefighter or a Police Officer can contact your family.

Simply store these emergency numbers in your cell phone under the name ICE (In Case of Emergency). More than 1 number can be stored by using ICE 1, ICE 2 and ICE 3.

So please take a few moments and ICE your cell phone.

Transition from Analog to Digital Television Broadcasts

The digital television (DTV) transition refers to the switch from analog to digital television broadcasts. On February 17, 2009, federal law requires that all full-power television broadcast station stop broadcasting in analog format and broadcast only in digital format.

Consumers who own analog sets that are not connected to a subscriptions TV service must purchase a digital-to-analog converter box for each of their analog TV sets to continue to receive over-the-air programming. A government program run by the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) is making available $40 coupons, limited to two per household, to help consumers pay for the converter boxes. More information on the digital-to-analog converter box program is available online at www.dtv2009.gov, or by calling 1-888-388-2009 (voice) or 1-877-530-2634 (TTY). Maine Prepares: A Special Supplement to Local Papers

This insert has lots of very useful information that your family and businesses can use to build a disaster supply kit, create an emergency communications plan, or be ready to evacuate your home if disasters strike. Please follow this link to view the entire insert courtesy of Bangor Daily News.
Maine Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) has always worked hard with Federal partners, other state agencies, and county and local governments to be sure that planning and coordination is in place to deal with all hazards. We work very closely with first responders to make sure they have the equipment they need and are trained and exercised on how to use their tools to protect the people of Maine.
